From the Deseret News, end of April ( the date is cut off...I'm assuming it was the last Sunday in April ):

"Funeral was held Wednesday for William G. Dyer, Provo, former Brigham Young University professor and dean, who died Thursday, April 24, 1997, at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City. He was 71.

"Mr. Dyer had heart bypass surgery 15 years ago and a repeat operation two days before his death.

"The services for Mr. Dyer, who taught at BYU for 30 years, started the Organizational Behavior Department and was dean of the Marriott School of Management, were held at 11 a.m. in the Edgemont 8th LDS Ward chapel, 3050 N. Mojave Lane, about one mile north of the Provo Temple.

"Burial was to be in East Lawn Cemetery, Provo.

"Mr. Dyer received bachelor's and master's degrees from BYU and a doctorate in sociology from the University of Wisconsin. He worked in Washington D.C., for the National Training Laboratories and consulted with major organizations on management training.

"He served as a missionary in the Southern States Mission, was bishop of the BYU 4th Ward and president of the BYU 4th Stake. He and his wife, the former Bonnie Hansen, were serving as co-directors of public affairs for the Utah South area of the LDS Church at the time of his death. Also, he was working in the American Indian Services program."
